Nitrification is favored by:
-
low temperature - low PH
- low O2 (case of competition with other non-nitrifying bacteria and oxygen consumption)
- KH low (drop the PH)
- flow filter (speed) does not appropriate.

Considering that the cleaning of the filter pump protection is an increase of flow velocity and that this increase should be encouraging the oxygenation disadvantage algae is evident that the increase in oxygenation induced by such an entity did not bring benefits .

is supposed to clean the pump is not going to affect parameters such temperature, pH or KH although in reality the change in oxygenation and greater loss of CO2 due to increased flow rate could affect the PH. So everything seems to indicate that after cleaning the velocity of flow becomes excessive and does not allow bacteria to nitrification of NH all this. This fits with the observation that when the water flow slows down due to clogging of biological filter, the general appearance of the tank is better and the water is clear. The same effect is achieved by thoroughly cleaning the aquarium and then manually contributing to the reduction of organic load.

Then the filter is clogged already has a good oxygenation and a speed appropriate to the process of nitrification compared to the load staff present. Certainly, the filter is always working to the limit and undersized but, being an internal filter is difficult to change the ability ...

Aquascaping ed estetica

After seeing the latest published results of ' AGA Contest I had promised myself to make some considerations about the current state' s Aquascaping. This connection arises from the increasing number of works submitted for the contest, representing the views that are more similar to terrestrial and aquatic landscapes, works that many (including myself) should not be labeled as aquariums, but as a separate category of artistic works.

We used to say "natural Aquarium."
course, my aesthetic concepts are influenced by the early work of Takashi Amano, or at least from those presented in the first book in the series "Nature Aquarium World". He himself in an interview in '97 about the concepts behind his work saying " Observing Nature, Learning from Nature, & Applying what you learned in creating the aquarium Within Nature" or "Observing Nature , learn from it, apply what you have learned to create the kind in the aquarium. "

read these words in context and without, however, misleading as you might think to the 'aquarium biotope "as an aquarium ideal. I do not think it is so with regard to its aesthetics and environmental quality. In fact, some habitats are certainly aesthetically unappealing valid and has not said that, to live a tank of that type, for both our fish better than living in a tank less specialized. For how hard it can be difficult to spend in achieving the habitat will be recreated in the tank to 100% faithful to the 'natural environment that you want to represent both the large number of variables involved, both for the inherent limitations of wanting to be an open ecosystem to 'inside of a closed environment. The construction of an aquarium that symbolically represents a natural environment can be and often is, technically semplice rispetto al ricreare un ambiente specifico e quindi ci sono maggiori probabilità di creare un ambiente salubre per piante e pesci.

What is perhaps overlooked is that many aquascaper for oriental style Iwagumi is a symbolic representation of reality is not one of his faithful imitation. Representation that makes use of proportions and spaces that are as aesthetically pleasing, far from a natural representation of a water environment as much as the ordered paths of aquariums "Dutch."

The nature has a spontaneous (pass me the words) "chaotic order": plants in nature are not separated by sharp boundaries, but mix with each other, seeking to penetrate one of the other space at the same time forced in place by natural laws of competition with each other (for the capture of light and other nutrients). The result is a harmony difficult to imitate in an aquarium forced by a schema, but in an aquarium can be accompanied in its growth. My hypothesis is confirmed by the fact that Amano stated that his tanks were not intended to be discarded immediately but instead "They are designed for long term setup." (They are designed for long-term furnishings), and then, in a way designed to progress and evolve.

You should not think of an aquarium, however, spontaneous and left to fend for himself as an excellent aquarium (with left to their own means of course the aesthetic point of view not from the point of view of maintenance which is absolutely not going to debate otherwise to the detriment of the health of our fish). The Zen aesthetic, as well expressed by Okakura Kakuzo in "Zen and the tea ceremony" or even by Alan Watts in "The Way of Zen", and very full of examples on arrangements of gardens, works of art , ceremonial gestures, seemingly natural and random. Apparently, but in reality, such as the fruit of disciplined exercise and repeated until reaching a state of spontaneity. Time is precisely the latter that is assigned to the result, both the method and signals used to get that exercise should be repeated to become the natural condition of the operator.

The state of natural spontaneity is really, in my opinion, the Touch of the missing works indicted. Landscapes meticulously maintained, tidy, technically perfect but lacking the emotion that can give an aquarium and, more importantly, a natural aquarium. This state of spontaneity is sometimes made with the Japanese term wabi-sabi, but the use of this term is correct only if interpreted (again) in the only area appearance.

I want to go at the moment on this biotope aquarium first settled perhaps too quickly. I mentioned a difficulty at the correct and faithful reproduction of a natural environment for the large number of variables involved. Many would be willing to claim to have thought of everything and taking water from the original furnishings, avendo avuto cura di temporizzare e quantificare correttamente l'illuminazione e i flussi della corrente e chissà quant'altro.

Il rischio è di trovarci acquari perfetti dal punto della realizzazione, esteticamente validi ma destinati a durare the time of a contest ... troviamogli a name but do not call them tanks!
